Team Tryouts!!: About Us

Important Info Regarding Team

Please read in full entirety to make sure the commitment to Team will be a good fit for your family before trying out.

  • Gymnast must be 4 at the time of Tryout.

  • Gymnasts are required to attend a minimum of two 2.5 hour practices a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:15-7:45 unless otherwise directed or discussed with Evan (Typically $170 a month).

  • Practices consist of 30-45 minutes of Conditioning every day.

  • Extra attention placed on detail, technique and form.

  • Gymnasts may not continuously work on higher level skills as often as they do in rec classes or Preteam. The Team program is strictly form based. Basics are mastered with near perfect form before moving on to the next skill in the progression line. This is often the hardest learning curve in a gymnast's journey moving to Team. Once a gymnast is assigned a level, they will work a majority of the time on perfecting the skills required of that level to increase their scores in competition. Once mastery is proven, progression can happen.

  • Team is a full year commitment (May-May/June) with approximately 5-6 weeks of breaks.

    • The year is typically divided by:

      • June-July: Skill & Strength Building

      • End of July: Levels Determined

      • August: Learn Routines

      • September-December: Routine Cleanup, Skill Cleanup, Strength Building

      • January-March: Bulk Meet Season, Skill Clean Up, Routine Runs, some upgrades begin in off weeks

      • April-May: Begin Upgrades during off weeks, Routine Runs during meet weeks, Finish Meet Season

  • Gymnasts will pay for 4-5 competitions in their Regular Meet Fees. This will not exceed $1,000 total, but does not include any optional clinics or meets.

  • Gymnasts will pay for membership fees for the organization(s) we choose to register in for competition which is included in Regular Meet Fees.

  • Competition locations are usually within 3.5 hour drives from the gym, but one or two may exceed that (and those are typically optional meets). Competitions typically fall on Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays, but some may be on Mondays and Thursdays. These competitions are known about in advance to help you plan. Families are responsible for their own travel plans (hotels, food, etc), but meets will often provide host hotels with discounted rates nearby.

  • Gymnasts will have the choice to attend Optional Clinics and Competitions. Fees associated with optional clinics and competitions are paid separate from their Regular Meet Fees. (Approx. $100-$250 each depending on location, type of clinic/meet, etc.)

  • Uniforms: Leotard, Jacket (Est. $150-$300 depending on level and option you choose).

  • Optional Uniform pieces: Bag, Pants, T-Shirts, Hoodies

  • Regular Meet Fees, Optional Fees, and Uniform Fees are divided into smaller increments ($100-$250) and spread out over the season. A meet fee schedule will be provided at the start of the season.

  • Meet Fees are NON-REFUNDABLE!

  • The first Meet Fee will be $100 due on May 21st. This is your initial commitment to the 2024-2025 Team upon invite.

Ultimately, Team is what you make of it. We try to make Team feasible from the lowest time and financial commitment possible to those wanting to fully commit to the sport. We want everyone who wants to do Team to have the opportunity to do Team. However, we always encourage gymnasts to take advantage of every extra meet, clinic, and practice available (even in lower levels) because every experience matters and every opportunity helps. Gymnastics is tough to commit half way to, so we kindly ask that you carefully decide if Team is the best option for your gymnast and family for the year before trying out and beginning to pay Meet Fees. Meet Fees are Non-Refundable.

Team Tryouts!!: About

What Skills Are We Looking For?

Please note that not all of these skills are required to make Team. The Coach will ask the gymnast to show each of the skills below and the gymnast can either show the skill, ask for a spot, or decline to try. The "In General" section is a large portion of our final decisions.

Likewise, there may be some higher level skills that your gymnast has that are not included in the lists below. If there is time at the end of the tryout, the gymnast may show the coach these additional skills. The skills listed below are the skills they will need and will work on perfecting the most in their first 1-2 years of Team which is why they are the most important.

Team Tryouts!!: Youth Classes

Schedule Your Tryout!

You have read over EVERYTHING and are ready to schedule your gymnast's tryout!

  • Email Evan at nrgaboone@gmail.com with times and days you are available in April. She will email you back with a Team Coach CC'd and you will schedule a time directly with them.

  • We highly recommend completing your tryout before May. Gymnasts will have the option to move to Team immediately upon invite or at the start of May.

  • Cost: $25/ 30 Minutes

    • Please pay via Venmo at the time of scheduling to save your spot (@nrgaboone).

    • 1 student per thirty minute Tryout

    • $10 discount for siblings

  • Family is NOT allowed to be in the gym during the Tryout. Please wait in your car until the Coach/Gymnast flag you down at the end from the doorway.

  • Results from Tryouts can take up to 3 days to process between all Team Coaches. Please be patient. We will email you ASAP regarding Team Placement.

  • If your gymnast doesn't make Team, do not worry! You will receive recommendations for skills or events we would like to see improvements on. Every gymnast who attends a tryout will be continuously re-assessed for free during their regular classes, private lessons, and open gyms through the month of June. This gives the gymnast time to engage in additional lessons and opportunities to grow in specific areas and show us they are up for the challenge. In July, we will reconvene with you and determine if we feel that a year of Preteam is best or if we feel they are ready for Team.

Please make sure you are ready for the year long time and financial commitment before trying out and accepting a spot on the 2024-2025 Team. We try to be completely transparent with families so they know up front what will be expected over the year for both gymnasts and parents. It is hard for not only the team, but the staff as well to lose a teammate during the season. We pride ourselves on having a close-knit group of gymnasts and respectfully ask that you honor your commitment to our Team for the full year upon accepting your invite.
